Objective: 

This course will enable the students to -

  1. Familiarize with software Latex which is a document typesetting system that is used to produce high quality scientific documents, like articles, books, dissertations, technical reports, etc.
  2. Explain the advantages of LaTeX over other more traditional softwares.
  3. Understand features of LaTeX.

The students will be able to –

 

CO145: Install latex on Windows operating systems.

CO146:  Use the preamble of the LaTeX file to define document class and layout options.

CO147: Format text in a Latex document.

CO148:  Use tabular and array environments within the LaTeX document.

CO149: Use a nested list and enumerate environments within a document.

Introduction and Installation of Latex, Installation of Latex, Defining documents class and preparing document, sentence and paragraphs, Formatting text, line and paragraphs. Organize the content into different section.

Unit II:

Insert a Table of Contents, Use packages, define different paper sizes, and set margins, Increase/decrease font size and use different font styles, Assign a color to any text and page, Align your text (left, right, center), Add single, one and a half, and double line spacing.

Insert vertical and horizontal spacing, Bold, italics, and underlining the text, Create an ordered list and unordered list, change the bullet style and change the numbering, Producing mathematical symbols and mathematical formulae.

Producing Integration ,Matrices and Equations, Producing sums and limits, Include images and resize them and specify caption for a figure, Create a table using tabular environment.
