CONTENTS

Students are required to familiarize themselves with software MATHEMATICA for numerical computation on the following topics:

  1. Calculate maxima and minima for inequalities.
  2. Plotting of inequalities.
  3. Calculate the solution of linear optimization problems where the objective function and constraints are all in linear form.
  4. Calculate the solution of optimization problems where the objective function and constraints may be linear or nonlinear.
  5. Optimization by finding stationary and singular points with plotting.
  6. Calculate the solution of primal and dual problems and confirm both problems have the same solution for feasible cases.
  7. Calculate the solution of primal and dual problems and confirm both problems have the same solution for bounded cases.
  8. Calculate solution of primal and dual problems for unbounded solutions.
  9. Calculate solution of primal and dual problems for infeasible solutions.
  10. Define an M/M/1 queue with arrival rate and service rate with Mathematica.
